About Us

Founded in 1988 Gordon Skiers was formed to offer race training to young skiers living in the Alford and wider NE of Scotland area. In the following years, many of the Club’s trainees have gone on to represent Great Britain at various levels, from the Children’s Teams right up to and including the Olympics.

Under the direction of a committee of volunteers, the Club continues to thrive today, offering training throughout the year, both on dry mat and snow.

While race training continues to be a focus, the clubs’ overall skiing philosophy has its foundations in all-mountain skiing.  The wider skills developed on-piste on groomed runs, whether “corduroy” or more challenging (icy!), off-piste in variable conditions or powder, along with  moguls (of any size!), provide an excellent base for the trainees to  develop and hone these skills, tuning them specifically to racing.

At many of the sessions, especially on the dry mat, parents are also welcome (even encouraged) to participate alongside the trainees.

Several of the club’s coaches are former trainees themselves, having been with the club for many years. They are now passing on their own experience and understanding of the club philosophy to the next generation!

Off the piste, the Club organises a number of social gatherings, including a Christmas Fun Race and Christmas Lunch, Ceilidh and end of snow season gathering.

The Club’s annual Ski Sale is held in early Autumn, providing a great opportunity to upgrade or get hold of some pre-loved equipment: especially handy for those new to ski racing!
