Race Licences

In order to compete in national (seeded) races, U12 and above competitors require to be registered with their Home Nations Governing Body, in our case, Snowsport Scotland.  Certain club races may not require such a racer to hold a “competitors licence” if the race is not “seeded”, however we would recommend registering to cover all bases.  This also allows Gordon Skiers to be nominated as your primary club.

As an outline guide, a race licence is required for the following:

  • Where the competitor is racing in FIS races (16+yrs old)
  • Where the event is a BASS seeded event (alpine on snow race)
  • Where the event is a BARTS seeded event (alpine artificial slope race)
  • Where the competitor is in the U12 age group (and below the BASS/ BARTS seeding system age threshold) licences are only required for entry into events at higher levels, for example, national championships (Scottish Dry Slope Championships, British Alpine Championships)

Competitors in the U8 and U10 age groups do not require to register for a “competitors licence” for any race.

Gordon Skiers are affiliated to Snowsport Scotland, therefore each competitor is eligible for a 10% discount on the cost of competitor licences. Applications can made here.
